It has been a year since the convoy occupation, and sadly, far-right hate hasn’t gone anywhere. Homophobic bullies – the same people who occupied Ottawa last year -- have announced their plans to protest against the Capital Pride Drag Storytime event at the National Arts Centre this Wednesday, February 8th with the goal of shutting down the event.
We can’t allow these bullies to intimidate our communities. That’s why, after our successes in Brockville and Peterborough, we are once again, in collaboration with our friends at Capital Pride and other groups, calling for people to come out to counter the far right and drown out their hate with love, this time in our own backyard.
Defend Drag Storytime!
Wednesday, February 8th
National Arts Centre
1 Elgin St
Ottawa, ON
10:30 am – 1:00 pm
Remember, while we learned last year that far right bullies are a threat to our communities, we also learned at Billings Bridge that when we come together and refuse to be intimidated, we can beat them.
Bring pride flags, signs with positive messages, and any supplies that can be used to support a crowd or set a joyful tone.
