Tell the Convoy to Kick Rocks
It is amazing that so many people came out to defend our community during Winter Pride last week! Together, our community protected performers and families, had an absolute blast dancing and connecting with one another, and defended Ottawa from hate.
Community is winning.
But that doesn’t mean that we can rely on others to do the work of community defence for us. When regular people stay home, there is no one left to stop hateful agitators from harassing and endangering people.
When we unite, we win.
One year ago this week, the Ottawa Occupation came to an end. The reason behind it was simple: regular people came together to defend their community from hate and forced their governments to act.
The Battle of Billings Bridge is living example of the power of community solidarity: When we unite, we win.
This Saturday, local far-right activists are rallying on Parliament Hill to support another Convoy headed to Winnipeg.
Community members are standing up to them.
Saturday, February 18 at 10am, join a counter demonstration keep the memory of the Battle of Billings Bridge alive and to remind the far right that they are not welcome in Ottawa.
Stand up to the far right and to celebrate the power of unity.

Protecting Each Other Means Protecting Healthcare
Like a plume of toxic chemicals spewing from a derailed train, privatized healthcare is making its way to Ottawa.
We can stop it.
The living lesson of the Battle of Billings Bridge is that regular people can change the course of history. When we unite, we win.
Doug Ford is relentlessly trying to privatize our healthcare just to make his wealthy donors richer.
Now is the time to stand united.
At noon, also on February 18, the Ottawa Health Coalition is holding a Rally Against Private Healthcare outside the Herzig Eye Institute (corner of St. Laurent Blvd. and Industrial Ave.), a private clinic owned by major conservative donors who will make huge profits from the privatization of healthcare.
By standing united we can and we will win.
